Jaime Turazzi Naveiro receives his award from the King of Spain
With the issue of attracting and retaining young people in the petroleum industry a key concern for the whole sector and a focus area of the WPC , the Spanish Organising Committee of the 19th World Petroleum Congress decided to honour the best young presenter of a paper or poster at the Congress under 35 years with a special Youth Award. With over twenty percent of the presentations contributed by young thought leaders under 35, the selection was tough for the Organising Committee. It awarded a total of 5.000 Euros in prizes to the three best authors with a first prize of 3.000 Euro and two prizes of 1.000 Euro each for two runner-ups.
Jorge Segrelles, head of the Spanish Organising Committee, said: “We are delighted to be offering such an incentive based the strong commitment shared by the World Petroleum Council and the Spanish Organising Committee of promoting Youth participation in the 19th World Petroleum Congress. We were pleased to see that many young people and students have put forward papers and posters for the Congress and demonstrated the excellence of our future generation.”
Jaime Turazzi Naveiro, a young process engineer from Petrobras in Brazil, was declared the winner for his paper on “Recent impacts of light olefin demands on refining processes” and was handed his award by the King of Spain personally during the official Awards ceremony on the first day of the Congress.
