WPC presents 'Journey of the Drop 2017' - a collaboration with ITN Productions
LAUNCHING AT 22ND WORLD PETROLEUM CONGRESS, 9TH – 13TH JULY 2017
In a unique communications partnership, the World Petroleum Council and ITN Productions are continuing the ‘Journey of the Drop’, a news and current affairs-style programme, which will explore the future of the oil and gas industry and examine the unique contribution the industry makes to society and economies across the globe.
‘Journey of the Drop 2017’ will show the reach and influence the oil and gas sector has on almost every aspect of daily life - from the importance it has for millions across the globe having little or no access to clean energy, to the latest innovations in exploration, extraction and production. The programme will also look at the diversity of the sector and the wide range of careers available within oil and gas. It will champion collaboration, celebrate innovation and encourage the exchange of ideas in order to meaningfully communicate the vital work the sector does.
Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, we will look at the extraordinary scope of the oil and gas sector and how it affects the people in it. ‘Journey of the Drop’ will aim to increase understanding of the oil and gas industry to the wider public, as well as look at tools and solutions to assist in both upstream and downstream operations.
The news-style piece will combine key interviews and reports with sponsored editorial profiles of some of the leading organisations who are working closely with WPC and its global membership in order to meet global energy needs.
Premiered at a specially scheduled event, the second part of ‘Journey of the Drop’ will be launched at the 22nd World Petroleum Congress in Istanbul, Turkey on 9th – 13th July 2017. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring WPC members, industry partners, government decision makers, as well as relevant journalists, writers and bloggers.
Dr Pierce Riemer, Director General, World Petroleum Council, said: “Our collaboration with ITN Productions on Journey of the Drop allows us to share an insight into the oil and gas industry, its operations and the impact it has on people and the economy around the world.”
