Following the success of the previous editions, the Wold Petroleum Council and ITN Productions have agreed to continue producing a news and current affairs-style programme exploring the role of the oil and gas industry across the globe.
‘Journey of the Drop: Leadership and Responsibility’ will bring to life the crucial role that leadership plays in the industry for responsible operations and their commitment in ensuring that good practices and standards are employed throughout to benefit the workforce and protect local environments and the communities.
This programme will play an important role in showcasing how companies and their decisionmakers implement strategies to address their responsibilities towards industry and society.
‘Journey of the Drop: Leadership and Responsibility’ will look at how the world will adapt as we go through the energy transition, with rising population growth and the world becoming less reliant on non-renewable energy sources.
Drawing upon ITN’s 60 year heritage and expertise in storytelling, the news-style piece will be anchored by Natasha Kaplinsky, one of Britain’s most proficient newsreaders, to combine key interviews and reports with sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations.
Premiered at the WPC Leadership Conference in Mumbai on 18-20th February 2019, the programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring WPC members, industry partners, government partners, as well as relevant journalists, writers and bloggers.
Dr Pierce Riemer, Director General, World Petroleum Council said: “We have been delighted with the response world-wide from our “Journey of the Drop” project with ITN. The next stage of our journey will showcase how our industry practices leadership and responsible management in all the areas where we operate. In particular, we will emphasize our partnerships with society, our care for the environment and how the oil and gas industry continues to be a force for change, economic and social development, working always for the wellbeing of all. We look forward to presenting the next programme in Mumbai at our leadership Conference in 2019 where delegates will also get to meet the people involved and responsible for many of these projects.”
Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with the World Petroleum Council to produce a programme exploring the vital role of the oil and gas industry across the globe. This year’s programme will have a focus on leadership and how companies need to ensure good practise and standards are vital for safe working operations for employees, stakeholders, communities and the environment. We’re excited to embark on the programme and engage with professionals throughout the sector and beyond to tell that story. We hope the content can be used to share best practise, innovation and ideas to shape a stable and secure future.”
