Every three years at the World Petroleum Congress, the WPC recognises some of the most outstanding projects and innovations in the oil and gas sector with the WPC Excellence Awards (WPCEA). The objective of the WPC Excellence Awards (WPCEA) is to distinguish companies, institutions or any public or private organisation (not individuals) engaged in the oil and gas industry for promoting or operating with high excellence standards. Companies can submit projects in three categories:
These criteria are taken into consideration by an independent panel when assessing the project:
Each category will have two winners, one from an NOC or large business and the other to represent the work of small and medium size organisations.

In recognition of the important contribution by youth to the energy industry, the World Petroleum Council rewards the best young authors of the Congress. These will be selected from the best abstracts submitted by young professionals under 35 and new submissions cannot be accepted as the Call for Papers has now closed.
Over 400 nominated projects were reviewed by the independent judging panel in this cycle’s awards nominations. The Finalists in each category are:
